Enjoying Time In The Garden

It has been a long time since we have had some nice weather in our little corner of the world.  Last week we had some warm dry weather with more to come.  It was the perfect time for the children to get into our back garden to plant some potatoes!

Each spring, the children plant seed potatoes in our back vegetable garden.  The children harvest the potato crop sometime during the first weeks of school in September.

We started with some seed potatoes.

Potatoes with lots of eyes are the best for planting.

The children lined up at the garden and took turns planting a few seed potatoes each.

It has only been a few days since the potatoes were planted, yet each day during our outdoor time, the children excitedly run up to the garden to check on them.  Nothing is growing above the ground yet.  We will continue to take care of them and watch for signs of growth.

Way back on Earth Day, the children started flower seeds indoors.  This week they took their marigold plants home to plant in their gardens.
