Valentines for Vets ~ Remembrance Day 2015

Madame D. made poppy necklaces for the children to wear on Remembrance Day.

On Remembrance Day, the children at our little yellow school were busy making Valentines.

While it may seem a little odd to be making Valentines in November, these Valentines were not just any Valentines.

These special cards will be part of Veterans Affairs Canada's Valentines for Vets campaign.  In February, our Valentines will be sent to Veterans living in long-term care facilities across Canada.

This little heart is here to say have a terrific Valentine's Day!  Thank you for all that you have done.

Remembrance Day is difficult to explain to young children.  Making Valentines for the soldiers was something they could understand.  The children felt enormous pride in the fact that their cards would be making soldiers very happy on Valentine's Day.  It was lovely to spend a part of Remembrance Day doing a little something for those who have done so much to protect the freedom that we have today.

In the wake of world events, we are grateful to all those who are committed to protecting freedom.

Establishing lasting peace is the work of education;
all politics can do is keep us out of war.
